August is peach month at Peddler’s Village, and every day the Bucks County location will offer special peach-themed food and drinks at restaurants and eateries. There will also be live entertainment on select weekends. On Saturdays and Sundays, guests can enjoy made-to-order sandwiches and burgers at the Water Wheel Food Tent.

Many shops will be hosting sidewalk sales and special offers throughout the month, so be sure to stroll the red brick pathways and browse the 60 + locally owned specialty shops and boutiques.

On August 8, Peddler’s Village will resume Murder Mystery Dinner Theater on Saturday evenings featuring Cheers. Call the Hospitality Center at (215) 794-4051 to inquire about tickets.

Looking forward to fall? Every September, Peddler’s Village hosts a famous scarecrow display that brings visitors from around the world. For seven fun-filled weeks, 200 scarecrows grace the winding pathways of the sweeping, autumn-tinted Village property. Some are inspired by famous characters, some are meant to be scary, but all of them are carefully handmade and contributed by Philadelphia-area residents and organizations.

Cycle, Run, or Hike for the Sourlands, Sept. 5-13

All are welcome to participate in the ninth annual Sourland Spectacular to enjoy the great outdoors and to “Save the Sourlands.” Typically, the event takes the form of a cycling rally, but this year’s event invites registrants to choose their own route (and fee) to cycle, run, or hike anytime during the nine-day event.

Sourland Conservancy trustees Joanna Fiori and Jim Andrews are co-chairing this year’s event. “We want to keep everyone’s health and safety front and center, which is why we have modified the event to allow riders, runners, and hikers to participate safely following CDC guidelines,” said Fiori. “We will be marking the routes, providing cue sheets and GPS files, a water fill station, and porta-potties.”

“Because many people are experiencing economic hardship and because we are offering reduced services for this year’s event, we are not setting a fixed registration fee. Rather, we are asking you to pay what you can.” Andrews continued, “If you donate $60 or more, we will send you a wicking workout shirt.” T-shirts will be available while supplies last and orders received before August 10 will be guaranteed. Logo and T-shirt designs are by Michelle Baker Design.

Proceeds from the Sourland Spectacular will support the Sourland Conservancy, a local nonprofit organization whose mission is to protect, promote, and preserve the 90-square mile Sourland Mountain region. Their work is more critical than ever as the forest is on track to lose over one million trees within 3-5 years due to the invasive emerald ash borer.

“Our staff, volunteers, and community partners are doing all we can to restore the forest. We need help,” said Laurie Cleveland, Sourland Conservancy’s executive director. “Millions of people rely on the forest to provide clean air and drinking water, habitat for endangered species, carbon sequestration, and more. Now, the forest is facing a serious threat. We will all need to work together to protect it.”

Dante DiPirro, the Conservancy’s board president, said, “Canceling our largest fundraiser, the Sourland Mountain Festival, due to COVID-19 dealt a serious blow to our organization. We are hoping that the community will rally together to support our work.

“I hope everyone will join us in September on the trails, roads, and social media. Our team is developing some fun ways to connect with your friends, share your experiences, and challenge each other. Even though we can’t all be together physically, we’re hoping to make it a real community event.”

When posting, remember to use the hashtag #sourlandspectacular2020.

The Sourland Spectacular will be held September 5-13, 2020 on Sourland region roads and public hiking trails. Cycling routes will be released soon. For further updates, visit www.sourlandspectacular.com.

Business sponsorships starting at $300 are still available. Sponsors who sign-up before August 10 will receive recognition on the back of the event shirt. Visit www.sourlandspectacular.com or email info@sourland.org for more information.

Listed for $5.9 million, the residence is the most expensive home sold in Asbury Park history

Asbury Ocean Club (AsburyOceanClub.com), the 17-story residential property that introduced luxury living to the Jersey Shore last summer, recently closed on its largest residence. Listed at $5.9 million, the sale marks a record in Asbury Park’s history and is a testament to the luxury design and lifestyle of the oceanfront oasis, which includes a full suite of amenities and luxury services. Asbury Ocean Club is just 70 minutes from Manhattan and less than an hour from many prominent New Jersey communities. Residents soak in coastal surroundings from every corner of the property, all while being at the center of Asbury Park’s vibrant city by the sea, offering miles of boardwalk and beaches, an active arts culture, and an established and growing restaurant scene.

The recent duplex penthouse sale is one of only six unique two-story penthouse designs at Asbury Ocean Club. This one-of-a-kind four-bedroom, four-bathroom residence boasts 6,846 square feet in total, with more than 4,500 square feet of indoor living space and 2,300 square feet of outdoor rooms, balconies, and a rooftop terrace featuring an outdoor kitchen.

In addition to having access to 24/7 concierge services, residents can also enjoy top-of-the-line amenities, which include a 65×30-foot heated, ocean-view pool and sun deck, pampering spa; state-of-the-art fitness center; library and game room; fully-equipped chef kitchen; cinema screening room; and business center with private offices and video conferencing capabilities. Keeping residents’ furry friends in mind, amenities also include a pet spa and wash station for sandy paws.

At the heart of the property is The Drawing Room – a “glass house” looking onto the deck and sand-dune landscape – serving as a living room with an open kitchen and libations lounge, creating a year-round fireside retreat.

“People are spending more time at home now more than ever and are seeking a drivable landscape. Asbury Ocean Club provides that unique resort getaway where you can truly live, work, and play,” says Jodi Stasse, senior managing director of Corcoran Sunshine, who leads Asbury Ocean Club’s exclusive sales and marketing team. “The appeal of a ‘lock and leave’ lifestyle means every request is resolved with a phone call the minute you arrive home, or even before. The vision was to provide our owners with more time to spend with family and friends while our concierge takes care of your everyday needs. That is Asbury Ocean Cub.”

With understated design by Anda Andrei (11 Howard, Gramercy Park Hotel + Residences), the residences’ hand-selected finishes include white oak hardwood flooring; custom cabinetry by Spazzi of Spain; engineered stone countertops; Hansgrohe fixtures; and bathrooms featuring polished porcelain walls. Simple materials, like concrete and glass with wood accents, create an open, light, and airy setting. Asbury Ocean Club’s graceful curves, courtesy of Handel Architects (Dream Downtown Hotel in Manhattan, Rosewood Hotel in Abu Dhabi), reflect the shoreline and accentuate views from each home.

The seller is the building’s developer iStar, the real estate leader that became master developer of 30 acres along Asbury Park’s waterfront in 2010. The decade-long, multi-billion-dollar redevelopment plan set forth by iStar includes The Asbury (www.theasburyhotel.com), as well as Asbury Lanes (https://www.asburylanes.com).

New York City museums have eagerly been awaiting Governor Andrew Cuomo’s permission to reopen their doors to the general public. The announcement finally came last Friday when Cuomo told reporters that New York City museums, aquariums, and other “low risk” cultural institutions could reopen on August 24. In response, the Metropolitan Museum of Art announced a target reopening date of August 29. The Whitney Museum of American Art will follow suit on September 3, and the Morgan Library and Museum on September 5.

Several exhibitions at the Whitney that were interrupted by its closure will resume, among them are Vida Americana: Mexican Muralists Remake American Art, 1925-1945 and Cauleen Smith: Mutualities, which have been extended through January 31. Agnes Pelton: Desert Transcendentalist has been extended. In addition, the Whitney will present a Collective Actions: Artist Interventions in a Time of Change, starting on September 17, which will highlight the role of artists in social and political change while showcasing posters, prints, and other items created in response to the Black Lives Matter protests and the coronavirus outbreak.

What to Expect During Your Visit:

All visitors to the Whitney must book timed tickets in advance at https://whitney.org/visit. The museum will be operating at a significantly reduced capacity and same-day tickets will be extremely limited.

Face masks that cover your nose and mouth are required and will not be provided by the museum. Signage and ground markings are meant to ensure proper physical distancing. Also, visitors must adhere to new circulation rules, particularly within staircases and elevators. Finally, hand sanitizing stations are available throughout the museum.

Located at 99 Gansevoort Street in Manhattan’s Meatpacking District, the Whitney is easily accessible by bicycle, car, and public transportation.
